Mako was transferred to our rescue from a Texas shelter. This sweet boy is so young and deserves a normal life outside a shelter.

Socialization/training: Mako is a happy-go-lucky pup who takes a bit to learn his surroundings but warms up quickly to new places and people. He gets along well with men, kids of all ages, and other animals. Deaf and visually impaired, he navigates the world well and has no reactivity issues. In the home, he's well-behaved but still has some puppy tendencies, so he’d benefit from supervision outside the crate. Highly food-motivated, he’s eager to learn and just needs the right guidance to pick up new skills.

Crate trained: Mako is mostly crate trained and settles in quickly. While he sometimes barks, it’s just his playful personality shining through rather than a need to go out. He does well crated overnight and when left alone but isn’t crated much during the day. Though it’s not his favorite place, he willingly goes in with guidance and remains quiet most of the time. He hasn’t had any accidents in or out of the crate. While he’s well-behaved, he still has some puppy tendencies, so he isn’t fully trustworthy when left loose just yet.

Leash trained: Mako is still getting used to leash walking and can be a little nervous since he can't see where he's going. He doesn’t pull or react to other animals like birds or squirrels. While he hasn’t had much leash training yet, he’s a calm and manageable walking companion.

Activity Level: Mako has a medium energy level and loves romping around in the yard with other dogs. He does well with daily walks or playtime to burn off energy and settles down nicely once inside. He enjoys playing with other dogs but is also well-behaved in the house.

Fence: Mako would do well with either leash walks or a fenced yard, as he’s easygoing and respects boundaries. He does well with a 4ft chain-link fence and hasn’t attempted to climb it. An invisible fence could be an option with proper training.

Behavior: Mako is a super sweet and spunky boy with an adorable personality. He has adjusted well to home life and enjoys following his person around like a little shadow. Though he may be unsure in new places due to his vision and hearing impairment, he warms up quickly and becomes a social butterfly. He loves to play, prance around the yard, and cuddle when it’s time to relax.

Medical History: no known health issues. He still needs a heartworm test (which he will be getting done before being adopted), but otherwise he's very healthy

Foster Comments: Mako has been a wonderful guest with his sweet and bouncy personality. He’s happy-go-lucky, great with dogs and cats, and loves people of all ages. Once he learns his surroundings, he becomes confident and playful, prancing around the yard with his canine friends. He adores his people and follows them around like a little shadow. Mako is crate-trained with minimal barking and has had no accidents inside. He would make the perfect addition to any household!
