Socialization/training: Bellari came to us as a transfer from the Ross County Humane Society in Ohio. She was removed along with 4 other dogs from a kennel living situation, they were all together in one kennel with no shelter or food, Bellari and her sister were both pregnant. Reasonably so, she is a little timid when first meeting new people and new dogs, but will quickly warm up. She loves to run around the yard chasing or being chased by the other dogs. She is very food motivated so once you can get her to calm down she would probably be easy to train. Bellari’s foster has been working on sit, but she hasn’t quite gotten it yet. With more one on one time, she will certainly excel.
Crate trained: She doesn't like to stay in the crate, especially if she can see you. Once the crate is covered she is fine and will calm down. She will pull in whatever is covering her crate so she can see, so a thick quilt is recommended to cover/drape over. She will have an accident in the crate if not let out in time as well. With her still being young, we would not trust her to be out of her crate unattended while you are away.
Leash trained: She is okay on a leash, definitely could use some work. She will get excited when seeing another dog but doesn’t try to go after them. Her foster hasn’t noticed her react to birds or squirrels when out in about.
Activity level: Higher side of energy. Lives to play chase and be chased by the other dogs.
Fence: Recommended, but not required.
Behavior: She is very affectionate, she likes to jump up on you, we are working on that. It may take her a bit to warm up, but not long. She is very friendly and just wants to be with her people. Bellari has been described as submissive when it comes to other dogs, and there has been no signs or resource guarding from her either. With some fine tuning, this dog will make someone a really fantastic companion.
