Socialization/training: Penny is dedicated to mastering basic commands like "come" and "sit”. She initially appears timid but craves love from her humans. Exceptional with people, well-behaved indoors when accompanied by humans. On a journey to boost confidence, seeking supportive humans with time to guide her success. Once comfortable, her primary desire is to cuddle and bask in affectionate gestures. She is house trained already as well. Penny came to us from a private rescuer in Alabama where she was saved from an overcrowded shelter. She ended up in the shelter after being confiscated from a hoarding situation. We have her presumed daughter in rescue as well. Because of Penny’s upbringing, a lot of what she is experiencing now is all new to her. Given that, she’s taken it all in great strides and has shown that dogs are truly resilient creatures.
Crate trained: Work in progress. Engaged in ongoing training efforts, she's making daily strides in crate behavior, though initial barking persists. Beware, she can cleverly escape less secure crates. A reinforced wire crate or airline style suits her fine. Crated for 8-10 hours during workdays, she currently sleeps in the crate but is reliable enough to sleep outside if trusted at night in a bedroom with you.
Leash trained: Currently refining leash manners, she excels when the handle is kept close. While she avoids pulling during walks, there are occasional moments when she halts, showing reluctance to proceed further. With more confidence boosting exercises, she will certainly be someone’s leisurely adventure companion in no time!
Activity level: Her energy level leans towards calm and laid-back. Enjoys cozying up on the couch for movie sessions. Developing an affinity for outdoor play with her foster sister, though indoors, she tends to be less playful.
Fence: While not mandatory, offering her the opportunity to explore would likely be appreciated, especially in the initial stages.
Adoption fee: $200
Foster location: Central Indiana
