Name: Marshmallow
Gender: Female
Age: 4 years
Breed: Miniature Australian Shepherd
Weight: 30-35lbs
Disability: deaf and blind in right eye
Dogs: yes
Cats: yes
Kids: yes
Socialization/training: Mallow has been with a family since she was a puppy, so she is very well
acquainted to family life in the home. She has been around small children and is very laid back
and affectionate towards all humans. She knows sit, crate, away, stay, and come. We have only
had her for a week but she is already picking up on some new manners, so it’s apparent she
is a quick learner. She is non-reactive on leash and will ignore all critters except she will stop
and beg for pets when given the opportunity.
Crate trained: Mallow loves her crate. She goes in easily when asked and enjoys taking naps in
there even with the door opened. She does not whine overnight and has not had an accident while being in there. She sleeps easily in there with her toys and blankets and is not destructive.
Leash trained: It doesn’t appear that she had much walk time on a leash in her previous home.
She loves going for walks but will zip back and forth and pull almost constantly. We have been
working on manners the past few days and she is already showing signs of improvement. I think
she will be an adept walker in now time and has the energy to go however far you want!
Activity Level: A good mix. She would play and walk nonstop if given the option, but is happy to
snooze on the couch with you as well.
Fence: She goes potty well on a leash, so I don’t think a yard would be a necessity. She comes
from apartment living so is accustomed to that. She does love playing fetch and is very
interested in exploring, so a yard would be nice for those sorts of things. She hasn’t tried to
escape from our yard yet, but she is able to jump baby gates so I would expect she could jump
a shorter fence if she put her mind to it.
Behavior: Mallow is a stage 4 clinger in the best way. She wants to be in your lap or under your
feet 24/7. She loves giving little kisses and rolling over for you so you can rub her belly. She is
very gentle and well mannered--no mouthing, jumping, chewing, or destruction. Playing fetch
and going for walks are two of her favorite activities, second to just snuggling on the couch. She
is also very invested in her chew toys and these can keep her entertained for hours.
