Socialization/training: Ella came to our rescue from another rescue in Ohio. The foster she was living with through that organization, had become ill and trying to manage a blind and deaf puppy was too much. With no one else within their organization who had experience with deaf/blind dogs, they reached out to us for help placing her. Her original foster did a lot of work with her. She knew at one point that a tap to the rump meant to “sit” and that a tap on top of her head meant “good dog” as her marker cue. She does well with her current sibling dogs and cats, but because she is blind she struggles finding them from time to time when she wants to engage with them. She is starting to use her nose more to get around. She will run in a circle to get around, it seems that way she avoids objects. She can be feisty and likes to play bite when not getting attention, this is something that a new family will have to keep up on by redirecting that energy to something more positive like trick training, etc. She will need to be fed her meals in her kennel as she doesn’t like to share them with other dogs. She has a bed that she absolutely loves that will be coming with her, she is adorable in it. It is a little Rubbermaid plastic drawer and she thinks it’s the comfiest thing in the world. Ella will need to be crated when her people are not home to supervise her. She is not potty trained yet but when she starts spinning in a circle, she needs to go outside! The picture posted of Ella is about 2 months old, she has since had to have both of her eyes removed (was already blind from birth) due to complications of them being underdeveloped.

Crate trained: She does great in her crate, she will whine when she needs to go out. Other than that she is quiet and will sleep in her bed. She settles down quickly once put in it too. She will also sleep in bed with you at night too.

Leash trained: Knows the concept of it but not officially leash trained.

Activity Level: Ella is moderately active. She enjoys playing with her foster siblings but also enjoy snuggle time with her people after an eventful day. Her impairments don’t stop her from being a puppy.

Fence: Preferred but if an adopter was dedicated to continuing her leash skills, a home without a fence would suffice.

Foster location: McCordsville, IN
Adoption fee: $250
