Name: Gracie

Gender: Female

Age: 4 years old

Breed: Border Collie

Weight: 35lbs

Disability: blind

Dogs: yes but not to live with

Cats: no

Kids: yes

Socialization/training: Gracie knows basic commands! She has started sit, down, leash walking, cooperative care, and is crate trained! She is well socialized with people, and wants to live inside their skin! She has been good with men and kids! She can get mouthy with hands, so best to supervise with children! Gracie does very well with dogs. She is easily overstimulated and over aroused so she would do best in a calmer quieter household. Constant roughhousing can stress her out. Gracie does great in the home, she loves to snuggle up on the couch with you with her benebone. She can be a little fearful on walks when spooked by a loud sound. Gracie has great house manners - she doesn’t chew or get into things, and doesn’t tend to jump on countertops or be nosey! She is still learning and can be naughty but overall she’s amazing in the home. Gracie is EXTREMELY food motivated and learns things so quickly! She settles very quickly as well! She’s such a joy to have in the home all she wants to do is hang out! Gracie is potty trained as well.

Crate trained: Gracie can be left in her crate for a typical 8 hr day. Due to overstating she does have some OCD in the crate and will spin, but can be managed and redirected. Gracie is not suitable for a home that will crate for longer than a typical workday. If you work over 8-9 hrs she will need some help getting let out during the day!

Leash trained: Gracie does okay on the leash! She doesn’t pull but tends to stay back! She needs someone that’s going to help her blossom in areas she can be nervous! She doesn’t try to chase any wildlife, she likes slow casual walks!

Activity level: Gracie is a low energy, low drive dog. She is happy to go on a walk or hike but also is content hanging out inside with you! She’s not a dog that needs anything to be able to settle. She will self entertain with toys - she likes to carry stuffies around like babies and snuggle with them!

Fence: Gracie does not require a fence but at least requires a leash! She loves to run around and get zoomies! An invisible fence would not be suitable for Gracie.

Behavior: Gracie is wonderful in the home - she’s affectionate and goofy but also loves to roughhouse with you and get loud! She does need some time to warm up and adjust to new environments especially to nap them out but catches on in no time! If you’re looking for your Friday night snuggle buddy, that’s Gracie! Gracie is a velcro dog and will try to follow you through the home! Gracie does have some stargazing behaviors that lead to intense spinning - she is easily redirected. The OCD in the crate is manageable but does worsen in overstimulating environments and new environments. Her foster does anticipate this improving more overtime. Gracie ideally is looking for a laid back family that is looking for an easy pet dog! Gracie would be okay in a home with 1-3 dogs but ideally the less the better. She would also do okay in a home with no dogs. She has been around large and small dogs, but for the most part has done best with dogs over 30 lbs when playing. Gracie does play with her hands which can be a bit much for smaller dogs.
