Name: Hawkeye
Gender: Male
Birthdate: 2/7/2024
Breed: Cocker Spaniel/Poodle mix
Weight: ~25lbs fully grown
Disability: blind in one eye and unilaterally deaf
Dogs: yes
Cats: yes
Kids: yes
Socialization/training: This charming and adorable pup came to us from an amish puppy mill interception. Hawkeye does well on car rides. He is meeting new people and exploring
new places and a new family should be dedicated to puppy classes, socialization, and training to ensure this cute puppy remains cute and well mannered as he ages.
Crate trained: Crate training is in progress. He is crated 8 hours a day. He also eats his meals in
his crate. He likes to have treats and toys in his crate. He is used to the crate routine and readily
goes into his crate.
Leash trained: In-Progress
Activity Level: Hawkeye loves his time playing outside in the backyard. He loves playing with the
other dogs, playing in the doggie pool, running through the hose, and playing with toys on his
own. He often lays in the grass next to my garden bench and quietly plays with his toys. Inside
Hawkeye does need to be supervised around plug-in cords. He can be easily redirected. Most
of the time he can be found playing with his toys or sleeping next to another dog. He sleeps well
through the night on a dog bed.
Fence: Preferred
Behavior: Hawkeye is a sweet, cuddly, and mostly quiet fluffball. He likes to give kisses and
doesn’t chew on hands. He enjoys being petted and belly rubs. The only time he barks is when
he is excited to get out of his crate. He’s easy going and is easily entertained with outdoor
playtime or indoor toys. He has been picky about chew treats but has finally decided he does
like a peanut butter kong. He also loves puppy whip cream.
Medical History: Hawkeye does have some hearing. He can hear noises (whistles, clapping),
but he is unable to locate where the sound is coming from. He is blind in his left eye(it is unfunctional), and he has some vision in his right eye. He easily navigates the home and can
locate dogs and toys in the yard. He does not have depth perception. He will require regular grooming both at home and at the groomers.
Foster Comments: Hawkeye is a very happy puppy. He loves life and is happy to just be with
people and dogs. I would recommend that he goes to a home with at least one other dog as he
finds so much comfort in a canine companion. He often will take his toy and lay next to another
dog. It must make him feel safe to feel their body next to his. He likes to sleep next to another
dog, but if he’s in his crate and another dog is near he is ok then too.
