Unfortunately Junji is back! Junji came to us over the summer and was adopted. Unfortunately some of her family members did not adjust well to having a dog in the household so due to no fault of her own she is available for adoption!
Socialization/training: Junji knows sit, crate, come, down, stay, spin, paw, “yes” and “no,” and listens pretty reliably. She is so gentle and kind and would do well with kids that are old enough to respect her boundaries. She is eager to learn and please, is very food motivated, and picks up quickly on the rules of the house. She loves the company of dogs, cats, and humans and would work well with any canine companion. She is nervous around visitors in the home and will bark and act scared, but I think this could be remedied with some positive reinforcement and training. Once she realizes the visitors are friends of her parents she tends will warm up to the visitors.
Crate trained: Junji sleeps beautifully overnight and doesn’t make a peep until 830 AM when she needs to potty. It takes her about 10 minutes to settle in when she is crated during the day, especially if she can see you because she just wants to be by your side. She takes naps in her crate with the door open and enjoys keeping her chew toys in there for when she is relaxing.
Leash trained: She walks great on a leash, very little pulling at all with minimal training! She’s happy to go for a few blocks or a few miles. Gets a little nervous when passing other humans or dogs but is not reactive/loud and recovers quickly.
Activity Level: Junji is the ideal activity level. She is down to play whenever, but quickly calms and knocks out for a nap when given the chance. Always excited to see you first thing in the morning and will run around on tippy toes to tell you hello. She enjoys long walks but doesn’t need more than a few blocks to be ready to relax. She loves after work play and training sessions and is always trying to please.
Fence: Not necessary--she prefers to be with humans or other dogs when outside anyway. She will need to be on a leash whenever not in a fenced in area.
Behavior: Junji is so sweet, goofy, and playful. She hasn’t met a living thing that she isn’t interested in getting to be friends with, including humans, dogs, and cats, even if it takes some time to warm up to the two legged ones. She plays wonderfully with our resident dog and would pair well with another playful pup. She loves to play chase with the cat as gentle with him, as if she knows her size could hurt him. She will seek you out for pets and give you the sweetest, softest face and hand kisses. She will follow you room to room and lay at your feet when you are relaxing.
Medical History: Totally deaf, blind in one eye but gets around as if she weren’t. She is up to date on all of her vetting and has no other known medical conditions.
Foster Comments: Junji is one of the best foster pups we have had so far. I think she would be a wonderful addition to any home but would likely prefer one that has an opportunity for her to interact with other pups on a regular basis, as she is very social, or maybe a home where there are less visitors or else owners who are dedicated to helping her become more confident with strangers.
