Socialization/training: If you are looking for a puppy without the hassle of potty training, Momo is
the girl for you! She came to us after being in the shelter from 2 months of age and hasn’t had
much training or socialization, but she is learning very quickly and coming to love her new life of
freedom. She has picked up quickly on signs for lay down, stay, and come and is working on
crate and sit. There will need to be consistent boundaries surrounding jumping on people and
mouthiness when she wants attention. She loves all people, but is timid at first and takes a bit of
time to warm up. Since her entire puppyhood was done in a shelter, she is nervous about new
environments but quick to become comfortable if treats are involved. She will need continued
obedience and manners training, as she is still very much a puppy.
Crate trained: She is crated 8 hours overnight and a few hours here and there during the day
and does well. She will whine a bit initially but quiets down and sleeps through the night. When
she is anxious, she tries to chew on fabric and will eat anything she can find (kleenex and
random pieces of yarn, for example). She needs monitoring around the clock until she is settled
into her environment, then learns quickly what does and does not belong in her mouth.
Leash trained: Momo loves going for walks and is laid back once she gets over her initial
excitement of being outside. She spends most of the time exploring with her nose and is getting
used to all the new sights and sounds of being outdoors. She is timid around almost everything
from lawn decor to fire hydrants, but with coaxing and treats she is becoming more comfortable.
Activity Level: Low to moderate. Momo has the best energy level-- she is a slow gal but down to
exercise whenever you are! She could take a walk every day, but doesn’t mind skipping them
neither. She is constantly playing with her plushie, ball, or benebone inside the house and is
good at entertaining herself, although she prefers to be close to her human.
Fence: Momo would be fine with or without a fence. She prefers someone with her while she is
outside, so always being on a leash wouldn’t be an issue for her. She has shown no interest in
trying to escape.
Behavior: It is very obvious that the world outside of a crate is new to Momo. She is timid about
most things but happy-go-lucky once she warms up. Seeing her explore new things and is becoming more comfortable has been very rewarding. She loves belly rubs and to lay next to
you while you watch TV at night.
