Name: Max
Gender: Male
Age: ~2 years
Breed: Aussie/German Shepherd mix
Weight: ~50lbs
Disability: deaf
Dogs: yes
Cats: yes
Kids: older kids
Location: Mooresville, IN

Socialization/training: Max is an extremely friendly dog. He loves everyone he meets! His waggy tail and smiling face is enough to make anyone want to pet him! He in fact loves people so much sometimes he jumps on people just because he wants to be closer to you! His foster mom has been working on this and teaching him "down" command but he still gets really excited around new people and needs work. He has not serious behavioral issues but just has no training before he got to us so he will need continued training and structure to teach him what behaviors are desirable and which are not. He is potty trained.

Crate trained: Max doesn't love his crate and escaped it the first day we had him but with some simple carabiner clips on the crate door were able to contain him. The first 3 or so days he did bark/cry in his crate but who can blame him? He was in a new place and didn't know any of his doggy roommates but now that he is settled in he does great in his crate and only barks if he needs to potty. He also goes right into his crate on his own and is a very good boy.

Leash trained: He does ok on the leash and loves walks but he does need some better leash manners and learn to not pull as much.

Activity Level: I would say Max is a moderately active dog he needs an opportunity to burn off energy whether it be playing outside, going on walks, or playing with other dogs. He can also be a couch potato though once he settles in as long as he has enough stimulation each day.

Fence: a fence would be best for Max in order for him to expel enough energy but an active owner who takes him on daily walks would also work.

Behavior: Max is super sweet, goofy, playful boy. He loves his people and is good with all people and dogs. He can be a little over interested in cats at first but once the newness wears off he mostly ignores them. Max doesn't seem to have a mean bone in his body and really just wants to be near his people. He does have issues with jumping so little kids would be at risk of being knocked down and he's been known to be a counter surfer (especially if food is left out) but his foster family has been working on correcting this behavior. Every issue Max has is just from lack of training in his previous home and such a smart eagar to please boy will definitely learn fast with a dedicated owner who is willing to work with him. If you choose to love Max he gives you that love back tenfold.
