Socialization/training: Poppy is mastering basic obedience, she adores people of all ages. However, new places make her a bit nervous due to her blindness. Poppy gets along famously with women, men, kids, and even other animals. Although leash training is ongoing, she's a quick learner, especially with treats! In the house, she's well-behaved but still has that puppy curiosity, so supervision is key.
Crate trained: During the day and at bedtime, Poppy finds comfort in her plastic crate, where she settles quickly without a peep. However, when nature calls, she's vocal about it! She's content in her crate for up to 6 hours overnight and about 2-3 hours during the day. While not her favorite spot, she manages well inside. Poppy is still learning to be trustworthy without her crate, so supervision is a must.
Leash trained: Poppy, a brave pup navigating the world one step at a time! While still learning the ropes of leash walking, Poppy's blindness makes her cautious about unfamiliar surroundings. She doesn't pull or chase after birds and squirrels, staying focused on her path. She barely notices other dogs passing by, staying calm and collected on her walks.
Activity Level: Poppy embodies all the classic traits of her breed mix, eagerly exploring the world around her with boundless enthusiasm. Poppy thrives on daily playtime in the yard, especially when surrounded by her furry friends. Despite her lively nature, she knows how to settle down quickly once indoors, making her the perfect companion for both play and relaxation. While she does enjoy the occasional toy, Poppy's true joy comes from frolicking with her canine pals.
Fence: Due to her discomfort on leash, a fenced yard is highly recommended for her. Poppy does well with a 4 ft chain link fence, providing her with a safe space to explore and play. While an invisible fence might be considered, it's not definite. Rest assured, Poppy is not a fence climber, ensuring her safety within her yard.
Behavior: Poppy, the epitome of a joyful Labrador/Aussie puppy, bringing boundless energy and love into her home! With her tail constantly wagging, Poppy exudes happiness and thrives on attention and affection from her humans. She's not just playful and eager to please; she's also remarkably motivated by food, always ready to learn new tricks and skills. However, in new environments, Poppy can be a bit shy and nervous, requiring patience and time to feel at ease. But once she settles in, there's no stopping her cuddle sessions – she absolutely adores snuggling up with her loved ones. Poppy isn't just a pet; she's a loyal companion who loves nothing more than being by your side, following you around like a devoted Velcro puppy.
