Willa

We're happy to tell you that Willa has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Name: Willa

Gender: Female

Age: 6 years old

Breed: Australian Shepherd mix

Weight: 35lbs

Disability: deaf and blind

Dogs: yes

Cats: yes

Kids: yes

Socialization/training: Willa loves all humans and other animals. She is the easiest dog ever- truly just wants to be loved. She can handle stairs. She is working on a couple commands such as targeting to get her to follow her foster. Give her a human to cuddle with, food, and pets and she’s all set. She will need some patience to learn her new surroundings but once she learns where she is, she is pretty good at getting around.

Crate trained: Willa is crate trained and spends time in the crate while her fosters work. She goes into the crate well and mainly just sleeps on blankets in the crate. She has not been left outside of her crate without any home due to her being blind and deaf. She is trustworthy out of the crate if her fosters are home.

Leash trained: She is a little unsure on a leash and tends to army crawl when in new spaces and on leashes.

Activity level: Willa is described as exuberant and always happy, never having a bad day. Despite her exuberance and zest for life, she really only wants to cuddle with her humans and be petted. She doesn’t have a lot of play energy.

Fence: Recommended. She does really well when she can find the barriers and perimeters of her area

Foster comments: I truly think Willa is the dream dog. She’s so easy going and would be fine as an only dog or with other animals. When at the vet she didn’t react poorly to anything. She does startle easily which is to be expected but isn’t a reactive startler. As mentioned above she just wants to cuddle and be loved on. She truly loves her humans and will never pass up a chance to snuggle right on top of you.
