Name: Snooki
Gender: Female
Age: ~ 2 years old
Breed: Miniature Australian Shepherd
Weight: 15lbs
Disability: Deaf
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Yes
Kids: Yes
Socialization/training: Snooki is a pretty calm, but social and playful girl. She has no problem
playing nicely with our other dogs. She typically doesn’t instigate, but doesnt mind running laps
or playing tag in the yard. She will sit perfectly still for grooming, including nail trimming,
dremeling, brushing, baths, and trims. She is very accepting and welcoming to attention. She
loves getting pets or belly rubs. She can take some time to warm up to some men.
Crate trained: She is in a crate while we are at work and at night. She goes into the crate
without a chase 9/10 times. She will never turn down a treat as incentive. She does well in the
crate, and has no accidents, even if we are gone for a longer period of time. She doesn’t destroy bedding, toys, or water bowls left in the crate. She is trustworthy out of the crate if her
fosters are home. We have not attempted leaving her uncrated while we are not home, however
she does great even out of the crate overnight.
Leash trained: She walks calmly and well on a leash. She doesn’t pull or attempt to get off the
leash. When passing other dogs, she will bark. However, she’s a quick learner and with positive
reinforcement this could be corrected.
Activity Level: She definitely enjoys taking a few laps around the backyard or going on a walk.
She has a few favorite toys- mainly soft/plushy type toys. Otherwise she prefers to play with
other dogs or humans. She lives up to the aussie name- wiggle butt, as she gets excited when
you interact with her. She enjoys cuddling, or sitting on your lap. However, she is also content
being a lazy girl. She will never turn down a nap.
Fence: A fence isn’t necessary, as she does good on a leash. She does enjoy running around
the backyard occasionally, so even a longer tie-out or a long-line for far distance play could be
beneficial. She has not had experience with a tie-out, only a fence. During outdoor time, if she
doesn’t want to play with our other dogs, she will sniff around/go potty, then lay on the outdoor
pet bed near the backdoor and wait to come in.
Behavior: Snooki is a very sweet and submissive dog. She tends to be a little more on the shy
side, and may take some warming up to. She is affection driven, and loves attention from
humans. She is housebroken, but may have the occasional submissive piddle.
