Socialization/training: Tammy loves to work for food. She currently knows the signs for sit, down, come, in, no, place, shake, and spin. She also knows how to do an agility hurdle and tunnel. Tammy is very well socialized with people and has never met a stranger. She thinks everyone is her friend and will climb in your lap if you kneel down and melt into you for back/neck scratches. Tammy is being taught cooperative care for nail trims and is a very easy dog to bathe. Tammy doesn’t currently have a theft and destroy problem with toys or household items, as she is usually content to just be hanging out with you. Tammy has been fine with all of the numerous dogs that come in and out of her foster home. Sometimes she needs correction if she is nuisance humping the other dog or pestering them too much. She can be very overbearing to new dogs but does not take long to want to start playing with them, and she usually wins most dogs over as well. Tammy currently lives with 3 cats and while she wishes they would play with her, she also is scared of them when they smack her. Tammy would be a good bro dog.

Crate trained: Tammy is currently crate trained, though she did not arrive to her foster that way. Tammy used to be a screamer (bulldog people will know the noise) when in her kennel but with the help of positive reinforcement and setting clear boundaries with her, she now goes in and settles down like a dream. Her favorite time of the day is meal time or nap time, because she knows she is going to get rewarded with food or a frozen Kong with her in her kennel. Tammy will need to be fed her meals in her crate as well so that she doesn’t worry about another dog bothering her. Tammy loves a comfy bed in her kennel and a nice blanket, and will curl herself up into the tiniest ball possible to snooze. Tammy is currently crated at night and while people are not home.

Leash trained: Tammy is leash trained and is currently accustomed to a front clip harness and walks very well with it. She loves to get out, smell the world, and just go! If she sees a squirrel she will let you know but is not unmanageable. In the warmer months she may need to take shorter leash walks due to the bulldog in her. She is a very good girl out and about in public.

Activity Level: Tammy is pretty good about matching the energy in the room and once she feels comfortable in her environment, will even lay down or get up on the couch and snuggle. She can go either way with being able to entertain herself with a bone, or romp it out with her foster siblings.

Fence: A fence is not 100% necessary for her, as she loves to go for walks and will potty on a leash. But running around in a fenced in yard with her friends usually means a tired Tammy comes back inside and settles better. She probably would enjoy the mental and physical enrichment of a daily walk. An invisible fence would not really be ideal for her due to her vision impairment and deafness. Her current foster has a 5 foot chain link fence and Tammy is very respectful of it.

Behavior: Tammy is a really easy going dog with mild to moderate energy levels. She enjoys a good romp around outside with her foster siblings, but is also content with a walk around the neighborhood and then following her foster parents around the house doing whatever it is they’re doing. Tammy is very affectionate and does not mind visitors. It took Tammy about 3 days to not be scared and confused in her foster home and then after that, she really opened up and blossomed. True to her bulldog/bully nature, she is stubborn, strong willed, and outgoing. Second to food, Tammy would sell her soul for endless booty scratches and to sit in your lap. Tammy was found as a stray in Texas and was presumed to have been hit by a car.
